Meeting/Event Information

General Membership meetings are typically held the third Friday of every other month at Quarry Oaks Golf Club in Ashland, NE. Meetings typically begin between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM and end by 3:00. Visitors are welcome, however, advance registration is required.

Most meetings provide 4-5 hours of continuing education.

10 AM - 12 Noon- Morning Session

This session offers two hours of CE for CFP, NE & IA Life Insurance, Legal, Accounting and PACE (pending approvals). 

10 - 11 AM - Connecting With Millenials and Generation X (Presented by Matt Cheney, Regional VP, Ivy Distributors, Inc.)

This program will look at the common traits of both Millennials and Generation Xers, and how financial advisors can best utilize communication to build relationships with these clients and tailor financial plans to their specifc needs and budgets. You will leave with an appreciation and understanding of these clients’ needs and have a better understanding of various solutions to offer.

11 AM - 12 Noon - Annuities and Medicaid Long-Term Care Planning (Presented by David Carlson, Associate Attorney, Carlson & Burnett LLP)

This program will take a deep-dive into annuities and how they can be instrumental in Medicaid planning. You will learn how couples can save assets from Medicaid by purchasing an annuity, and how annuities work with Medicaid to benefit both the spouse in care and community spouse LTC. 

12 Noon - 1PM - Lunch Buffet (included in all full and half day registrations)

1:00 - 4:00 PM - Afternoon Session 

The afternoon session will provide three hours of Nebraska and Iowa INSURANCE ETHICS credits.  We also have applied for Ethics CE credit for Legal and Accounting.  PLEASE NOTE:  This program is NOT a CFP® ethics course. The FPA of Nebraska will offer a two-hour CFP® ethics course in the first quarter of 2019.

“Ethics, Suitability & Communication” -- Presented by Robin Mueller, LUTCF -- National speaker and trainer from Franklin, WI

This seminar will begin with a review of some ethical stories and case studies and then move into the definition of what good ethics is.  Suitability will be defined and covered in depth.  The course will conclude with a thorough discussion of proper communication techniques, including preparation and professionalism.

Our speaker is Robin Mueller, LUTCF -- one of the insurance industry's leading speakers and trainers -- and according to our members who have attended his programs, he is the best ethics presenter EVER! Robin entered the insurance business in 1979. He has been an agent, in field management and in the home office. Robin has received rave reviews from people who have attended his ethics programs in previous years.  For three years, Robin served as President of the Foundation for Insurance and Financial Education. Robin is a frequent presenter at industry meetings and and has spoken at GAMA, NAFIC and MDRT.
