Meeting/Event Information

General Membership meetings are typically held the third Friday of every other month at Quarry Oaks Golf Club in Ashland, NE. Meetings typically begin between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM and end by 3:00. Visitors are welcome, however, advance registration is required.

Most meetings provide 4-5 hours of continuing education.

Morning Session

10 -10:30 AM - FPA Chapter Update

President Jessica Nagengast will lead a discussion on the latest announcements from FPA. Come listen and be the first to hear the current OneFPA plan, plans for the Wealth Management Conference and Nebraska chapter updates.

10:30 AM - 12 PM - The Impact of Divorce on Estate Planning (Presented by Matt Stadler CPA, ABV, JD)

ImageThis course will discuss the estate planning issues created by a divorce. Issues discussed will includ

beneficiary designations for retirement accounts, death during divorce, financial restraining orders, porperty settlement, trust disassociation language, alimony considerations and conflicts of interest.

The Morning Session will provide ONE hour of CE for CFP, Nebraska & Iowa Insurance, Legal, Accounting and PACE (pending approvals).

12 Noon - 1PM - Lunch Buffet (included in all full and half day registrations)

1 - 3 PM - Afternoon Session 

1 - 2 PM - The Latest from Lincoln: Nebraska Tax Developments That You Need to Know to Advise Your Clients (Matt Ottemann JD of McGrath North Law Firm) 

This program will review that latest updates and tax developments from Lincoln. Learn about Nebraska's rules regarding residency for tax purposes, updates on Nebraska's buisness tax incentives and the latest developments from the Legislature's 2019 session regarding Nebraska taxes.

2 - 3:30 PM - The Financial Advisor & Incapacity: Legal & Ethical Responsibilities to Clients with Potential Mental CapMonte L. Schatzacity Issues (Monte Schatz, JD of Vandenack Weaver LLC)

This program will help financial advisors and others in an advisory capacity identify potential mental capacity issues that place a client at financial or personal risk and/or personal abuse and undue influence. After identifying these potential issues, you will learn a brief outline of the legal, regulatory and medical resources that are available for advisors to help protect your client.

The Afternoon Session will provide TWO hours of CE for CFP, Legal, Accounting and PACE -- and ONE hour of ETHICS CE for Nebraska & Iowa Insurance (pending approvals).
