Impact Investing

Impact Investing is the concept that strategically invested capital can generate both a financial return and a measurabe social return. This presentation will cover the basics of impact investing - what it is, where did this idea originate, what are the core characteristics. You will also learn about how foundations are using impact investments as a tool to scale impact, differences between private and community foundations in this context and some local examples of these investments.

Kelli Cavey, JD, CAP®, joined the Omaha Community Foundation in November of 2018.  Kelli leads the Foundation’s Impact Investing Program - working to strategically invest capital for both a financial and social return.  Kelli also works closely with new and current donors and their advisors to facilitate effective, efficient, and impactful charitable giving. 

Vanessa Denney joined the Omaha Community Foundation in January of 2020.  As a member of the Donor Services team, she supports family foundations through a comprehensive suite of customizable family foundation services, which allows the family to focus on the rewards of giving.  Prior to joining the Omaha Community Foundation, Vanessa was the Director of Corporate Relations at the University of Nebraska Foundation and a National Sales Manager at the Omaha Convention & Visitors Bureau.
