FPA of Nebraska Newsletter - Jan/Feb 2021
President's Report
Many of us are happy to turn the page on 2020 and look forward to the new year. The Financial Planning Association of Nebraska is ready for a return to normalcy in 2021. Although I’m sure you’ve heard the experts and corporate leadership claim that remote work and Zoom meetings are just as effective as being in the office, it’s impossible to replace the morning coffee and conversation with another member at Quarry Oaks before a chapter meeting. We understand that one of the greatest benefits of FPA is connecting with other members and that has been a challenge this past year.
As professionals in a relationship management business, we are aware that engaging with other members not only fills our social needs, but it also helps expand our yearning of new ideas and topics. One of the primary principles of FPA is to cultivate and advance our expert competencies. FPA of Nebraska leadership is focused on developing high quality meeting content to encourage the growth of your expertise regardless of where you are in your career.
Our member expertise is needed now more than ever in our community. 2020 certainly reminded us how quickly volatility and fear can overtake financial markets. Clients and colleagues looked to us for calming their anxieties, providing wisdom, and a long-term perspective. This reminded us why we prepare for the unexpected – perhaps the possibility of losing a job or unforeseen expenses. Most importantly, it reminded us how fragile life can be – the thought of losing a loved one, a colleague, or a client reminds us that sometimes we must have difficult conversations and be prepared for the worse. This is why our profession is so essential.
I am excited to be leading FPA of Nebraska as your Chapter President this year. As we hope to eventually return to some regularity, I encourage members to think of colleagues or friends who could benefit from FPA and invite them as your guest to one of our chapter meetings. Our membership has made FPA of Nebraska one of the strongest chapters in the nation and I am looking forward to seeing you soon.
Sincerely,
